DENVER — The Denver Rescue Mission is asking for turkey donations for their Great Thanksgiving Banquet.

According to a spokesman, the Mission has only 270 turkeys on hand. They have requests for more than 18,000 turkeys from 103 local agencies including churches, schools and nonprofits, said Alexxa Gagner.

“The Mission will feed thousands of meals this holiday season,” Brad Meuli, President/CEO of Denver Rescue Mission said. “We don’t do this alone, we are able to do this with our community’s support.”

The turkeys are served at the Great Thanksgiving Banquet on November 21st and given to families in 1,250 food boxes throughout the Metro area.

The Mission is asking for donations of frozen turkeys weighing 12 pounds or more. Donations can be brought to the Lawrence Street shelter at the corner of Park Avenue and Lawrence Street.
