DENVER — Is it secure to pay your bills on your smart phone?
As part of our week-long series on keeping your family Safe and Secure, we asked Jennie Sanford from Bargain Blessings how you can make sure your bill paying is easy, quick, and safe.
The first safety tip is to use your bank’s mobile app to access your accounts rather than going to the bank’s website via a regular browser. The Web can be rife with contaminated links. Apps are a safer platform.
Also, only download apps from established vendors like Google or Apple.
Be sure to lock your smartphone. Having a password or PIN on your phone’s home screen is essential in case the phone is lost or stolen.
Never bank via your smartphone on a public Wi-Fi network. Use your regular cell connection, protected Wi-Fi from a trusted network operator, or a mobile wireless connection.
