Weld County Launches "Discover Weld" Web Site

The Weld County Board of Commissioners will launch a new web site on May 1, 2013, to highlight the attractions, events and people of Weld County.

Frederick in Flight hot air balloon festival will take place June 22-23 in Frederick’s Centennial Park this year.

Centennial Highway Logo Contest Winner

WELD COUNTY, CO – Last night at the monthly meeting for the Highway 85 Coalition, a room full of judges narrowed 105 entries for the Centennial Highway Logo Contest down to one design which will represent the corridor through Weld County. Steve Gonser, of Greeley, submitted the winning logo and will receive the $1,000 prize for his design.

“We were very impressed with the quality of entries we had to review,” said Weld County Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer, member of the Highway 85 Coalition. “The creativity of many of the entries made our job difficult. It was great to see so much participation from the community, and we believe the winning logo will represent the 85 corridor well.”

A total of 105 logos, submitted by 44 individuals, were entered into the contest. Each logo was catalogued, given a number and presented to the judges for review at last night’s meeting.

Judges, which included mayors from municipalities along the Highway 85 corridor in Weld County, reviewed 105 entries submitted to the logo contest.

Governor’s Civic Engagement Initiative – Douglas County meetings

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper’s large-scale civic engagement initiative, TBD, will host nine meetings in Douglas County during March, April and May. This initiative seeks self-nomination of participants who will provide input on Education (birth – 12; and higher education); Transportation; Health Care and the State’s fiscal health. Participants are expected to attend all three meetings in the region in which they have nominated themselves to participate.

Douglas County assists taxpayers with online 2012 Property Tax Calculator

Just in time for the arrival of Douglas County property tax statements, property owners in Douglas County are reminded of the County’s website tool that will calculate an individual property’s proportionate cost share of 26 different service categories provided by Douglas County, including road construction, law enforcement, parks and trails, public health, elections, snow removal, and traffic management.
