Second arrest made in Ultra Diamonds robbery, both suspects now in custody

On Thursday, a second arrest was made in the July 22 armed robbery at the Castle Rock Ultra Diamonds jewelry store on 5050 Factory Shops Blvd.

Leandro “Eric” Madrid, 20, was arrested in Pueblo, where he remains in the Pueblo County jail on $1 million bond.

Both individuals involved in the armed robbery are now in custody – Miguel Fuentes, 29, was arrested Aug. 6.

Paint-A-Thon is a mission possible for Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department

For all but the most enthusiastic do-it-your-selfers, painting the exterior of a home can be a chore. For people without the physical ability and the financial resources, that particular chore is impossible.
 
The Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department, along with community volunteers, will get the job done for lucky Castle Rock residents as part of the fifth annual Paint-A-Thon in September.
 

Road work will impact Castle Rock traffic on Wolfensberger Road the week of Aug. 30.

Concrete pavement and curbs along the stretch between Park Street on the east and Prairie Hawk Drive on the west are being replaced as part of the Town’s 2010 Pavement Maintenance Program.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to begin Aug. 30 and take a few days to complete.

Council to vote on commercial medical marijuana ban on Aug. 24, Sept. 14

All commercial medical marijuana operations could be prohibited in Castle Rock if Town Council approves an ordinance that will first be read Tuesday.

Adoption of the ordinance would require approval by a majority of Council on two readings. The second reading of the ordinance currently is set for Sept. 14.

Arrests made in Castle Rock outlet mall jewelry heist

Colorado Springs police arrested a man suspected in the armed robbery of a Castle Rock jewelry store.

Miguel Lopez-Fuentes, 29, was arrested Aug. 6 in Colorado Springs in connection with the robbery of the Ultra Diamond Store at the Outlets of Castle Rock. Investigators said Lopez-Fuentes and an accomplice got away with $95,000 worth of jewelry.

Second man involved in 2008 Douglas County crime spree found guilty

Castle Rock, Colo. - A Douglas County District Court jury found Brandin Eugene Kreuzer, 21, guilty of multiple crimes today, including his involvement in shooting at two Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies on June 28, 2008. 

Input on, endorsement of regional park plan sought

A spectacular parcel of land located only a mile from Downtown Castle Rock could soon be the site of one of the Town’s largest and most unique parks.

Castle Rock Development Co. recently dedicated the 225-acre site, near the west end of Plum Creek Parkway, to the Town. A portion of the property is suitable for development into a large park, said Jeff Smullen, the Town’s parks planning superintendent.
