Hickenlooper urges Coloradans to test for radon gas

Gov. Hickenlooper has signed a proclamation declaring January as Colorado Radon Action Month, a perfect time for Coloradans to test their homes for radon, a radioactive gas responsible for hundreds of Colorado cancer deaths each year.

The state Division of Housing says that foreclosures are down 28 percent.

Colorado foreclosures fall more than expected to 42-month low

Colorado foreclosures fell more than expected last month to a 42-month low in metropolitan counties.

Colorado Division of Housing spokesman Ryan McMaken says a report released Wednesday shows auction sales were down 28 percent over October last year. He says sales fell from more than 1,300 in 2010 to around 940 for the same period this year.

Foreclosure down 27 percent statewide but rising outside of Denver metro area

Communities outside the Front Range are feeling the foreclosure pain despite a 27 percent drop in foreclosure filings in Colorado.

A report released early Tuesday by the Colorado Division of Housing says new foreclosure notices fell to 23,338 during the first nine months of 2011, down from 32,009 filings during the same period last year. All 12 of the Denver metro counties saw drops in filings, with Adams falling 32 percent and Denver down 31 percent.

New help for homeowners facing foreclosure

DENVER – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in conjunction with NeighborWorks America announced the launch of the Emergency Homeowners’ Loan Program (EHLP) today, to help homeowners who are at risk of foreclosure in Colorado.

DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Division of Housing says a survey of rental properties in the Denver metro area shows vacancies for the first three months of the year fell to 1.4 percent.
